Sustainability Symposium, Friday, April 5th, 2013, Institute on the Environment

Attention all graduate, professional, and undergraduate students at the University of Minnesota! Have you worked on a project, report, or done research related to sustainability? Share your work at the 2013 Sustainability Symposium on April 5 for a chance to win an iPad Mini! Abstracts are being accepted until March 15ALL students are encouraged to submit abstracts!
This year’s theme, “Get Out of Your Geek Speak,” encourages you to communicate your story in terms relatable to the broader University community. At the Sustainability Symposium, you will have the chance to develop your communication skills by showing and articulating the importance of your research to a broad audience.

Why Present?

As a presenter at the Sustainability Symposium, you will hone presentation skills by sharing your research, enhance your resume, and connect with individuals sharing an interest in sustainability. Submission categories include conference posters, lightning talks (5-minute presentations of your work), and multi-media pieces (artwork, design project, video, etc.). A workshop for Symposium participants, “Telling Your Story,” will be held March 26, 4-5 pm at Institute on the Environment, presented by Macalester College Environmental Psychology faculty member Christie Manning, U of M Media Library Head, Scott Spicer and Science Librarian Megan Kocher. The University of Minnesota offers sustainability courses in most of the colleges and schools at the main Twin Cities campus and on each of our four coordinate campuses. Sustainability related courses are offered in departments and programs within the biophysical sciences, social sciences, humanities, arts, design, engineering, business, health and within numerous interdisciplinary programs.
