The Leaders Program is a leadership accelerator within the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota. The Leaders Program develops demonstrated undergraduate leaders into real world change makers committed to solutions focused leadership.
The ideal IonE Leader candidate has impactful environmental leadership experience, shows a passion for environmental change, and has a strong academic track record. Participants can expect an open and accepting cohort experience to reflect on, practice and improve their leadership. Through workshops, cohort meetings, and mentorship participants will gain valuable hard skills, cultivate solutions-oriented soft skills, and grow a professional network.

Leadership inventories, systems thinking exercises, and integrative leadership practices form the backbone for these personal development meetings. Participants will develop and present a personal leadership plan. Cohort meeting curriculum is provided with support from the Humphrey School’s Center for Integrated Leadership.
Presentations, social media, fundraising, networking… The list of critical skills not covered in every-day coursework goes on and on. Workshops will be led by topic experts and focus on immediate practical application of the skill.
Connect with an environmental professional, learn from his or her experience, benefit from his or her advice, and develop a professional network. Leaders Program staff will match participants to outstanding environmental professionals. Participants manage the relationship with support from Leaders Program staff.
